Internet Speed

  • To confirm your speeds are accurate, please reference: what should my internet speed Be?
  • We believe speed tests are typically unreliable. This is for multiple reasons, one being that they test UDP instead of TCP traffic, another being that they usually connect to the internet at 100mbps, which means that when multiple users try to access the service at the same time, the maximum speed is divided. This in turn gives highly inaccurate and variable speeds. Therefore we have created a private speed test site restricted to only our IP address range.
DNS Entries

  • SMTP: When you migrate your site across to Siptech, the SMTP address on your mail server will normally need to change. We suggest that you create a 4th level domain name for smtp.yourcompany.co.nz and point this to 114.134.160.100.
  • Our SMTP server is available free of charge to all customers accessing it within our IP range and therefore no authentication is required.
  • To stop our SMTP server from being added to black lists, which would adversely impact all customers, we have restricted the amount of emails that can be sent at one time to 30.
  • BULK SMTP: If you send out email marketing, or require bulk email to be sent, to more than 30 addresses at one time, we have created a bulk SMTP facility.
  • We suggest that you create a 4th level domain name for bulksmtp.yourcompany.co.nz and point this to 114.134.160.99. This is restricted to send 300 simultaneous emails at one time.
  • If you require more than this, we recommend you use 'Smart Host'. This can be used to send direct and break customer lists into groups under 300. Conversely, you can use an alternative system that specialises in bulk mail delivery such as Mail Chimp.
  • It is important that you do not use the bulk SMTP facility for your day to day email as there is no guarantee this won't be black listed from time to time.
  • DNS: To ensure a quick resolution when surfing the internet, make sure the you use the Siptech DNS servers which are: 114.134.160.120 & 114.134.160.121 and not those of alternative providers.
